On Tuesday 10th june 2014, Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi will organize a screening of “Poil de carottes” in collaboration with Institut francais and the Alliance Francaise Abu Dhabi.

“Poil de carotte” (1932) is a movie directed by Julien Duvivier, who was also the director of movies such as “Pépé le Moko” starring Jean Gabin, “Don Camillo” starring Fernandel, and “Anna Karerina” starring Vivien Leigh.

Poil de carotte (Robert Lynen) is his mother’s whipping boy (Catherine Fonteney is Ms. Lepic). His father (Harry Baur as M. Lepic) doesn’t pay attention to him since he is too busy in hunting and politics. That’s why he’s haunted by committing suicide. One day, he tries to hang himself after his mother had treated him badly and his father had neglected him. M. Lepic prevent him from dying nick of time. Afterwards, he finds his son’s real nature, and supports him against Ms. Lepic’s hatred.

The film will be screened at 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM at the theater of Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.
