Institut français in the United Arab Emirates/Cultural Department of the French Embassy, Sharjah Museums Department and the French archaeological mission to the U.A.E present the exhibition “40 years of archaeological cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and France” at Sharjah Archaeology Museum from 18th October 2017 to 31st January 2018.
This exhibition depicts the United Arab Emirates history as a pathway for the first men between Africa and Asia, and as a central land for civilizations and cultures dialogue at the crossroad of important trade routes.
This exhibition which is the result of 40 years of common excavation celebrates the strong relations that bring together the United Arab Emirates and France since 1977 on the field of archaeology.
On the occasion, France and the five Emirates of Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Ras-al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm-al-Quwain, where the French mission conducted searches, cooperate in the framework of this ambitious cultural and scientific project at a federal level.
Curated by Dr Sophie Méry, Director of the French archaeological mission to the UAE, the exhibition shows 100 objects tracking the United Arab Emirates’ history, from Neolithic to Islamic periods.
A cycle of conferences along with a range of workshops and guided tours will be organized through out the whole exhibition.
