Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, Stravinsky, Bartok and many more…this ninth edition of Abu Dhabi Classics promises to be intense for all lovers of classical and Arabic music. Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism: Abu Dhabi Classics aims to bring Abu Dhabi and the region closer to the rest of the world and to create a hub for exchanges and discoveries. Moreover, the festival is keen to shed the light on the younger generation of classical music.
Abu Dhabi Classics introduces some changes this year as the Cultural Foundation and the Arena Stadium become the main venues for soloists, orchestras, ballets etc. from Germany, Switzerland, Egypt, Lebanon and … France.
Thus, after the visits of Xavier de Maistre and Lucas Debargue, the Institut Français in the United Arab Emirates is delighted to be a partner of the concerts of French artists who will come to perform in Abu Dhabi for both unique dates.
The opening concert of the season, “Bach Concertos, for 2, 3 and 4 pianos“, is led by the young French pianist David Fray, who will perform for the second time in Abu Dhabi Classics. This concert will take place on January 28at 8 pm at the Cultural Foundation. David Fray will bring Bach’s concertos to life, accompanied by his former teacher and mentor Jacques Rouvier, pianists Audrey Vigoureux and Emmanuel Christien as well as the Geneva Chamber Orchestra. The four pianists will play simultaneously to deliver a performance that has been unanimously acclaimed in several international festivals.
The Institut Français in the UAE is also pleased to support Lise de la Salle’s concert. The young talented pianist from Cherbourg will present “Dances” on February 1st at the Cultural Foundation.
