Postponing the Laurent de Wilde Trio in Abu Dhabi’s Concert, originally planned for the 20th of November, to a later date

Following the terrorist attacks which took place in Paris on Friday, 13th of November 2015, the Laurent de Wilde Trio have postponed their tour, initially planned in the Gulf this week.
Consequently, the jazz concert scheduled on Friday, 20th of November 2015 in the Abu Dhabi Theatre cannot occur, and will be rescheduled to a later date.

The Cultural Department of the French Embassy / Institut Français in the UAE and the Alliance française Abu Dhabi, with the support of the Bank of Sharjah and in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Theater – Emirates Heritage Club, Abu Dhabi Classic FM and Virgin Megastore, present Laurent de Wilde Trio live in concert, for the first time ever in Abu Dhabi. This exceptional jazz trio will play some of the best titles of the acoustic album “Over the Clouds”.

On tour in all GCC countries, Laurent de Wilde Trio will stop in Abu Dhabi on November 20th for a unique and intimate jazz concert at the magical venue of the Abu Dhabi Theater, Breakwater!

Born in Washington in 1960, Laurent de Wilde is an artist who stands out through the sheer depth and diversity of his work. A world-renowned pianist, composer and writer, de Wilde has redefined contemporary jazz through experimentation and innovation.

Released in 2012, the Trio’s album “Over The Clouds” marks de Wilde’s return to the roots of jazz and has been widely acclaimed by critics for its maturity, elegance and inventiveness. Over the clouds is a colorful, sensitive and intimate album melting contemporary jazz with African beats.

As on the album, Laurent de Wilde will play in Abu Dhabi with the renowned Swedish-American bassist Ira Coleman, with whom he recorded in New York in the 1990s. Coleman has played with some of the greatest names of music, including Cab Calloway, Freddie Hubbard, Betty Carter, Branford Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter,

Jessye Norman and Sting. He was also musical director for the American jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater until 2009. The third member of the trio is Donald Kontomanou. Very active on the international jazz scene, this percussionist has been playing in jazz clubs since he was 14 and is a regular in jazz festivals throughout the world.

Fees : 50 AED (students and under 21) – 80 AED (Alliance française Abu Dhabi members) 100 AED (full fare).
