The 8th edition of Abu Dhabi Film Festival, which took place from October 23rd to November 1st 2014, honored numerous French films; over 50 French productions and co-productions were presented throughout the week. In addition, a tribute was paid to François Truffaut, marking the 30th anniversary of his death with a retrospective retracing of his greatest masterpieces and similarly, the Franco-Algerian director, Rachid Bouchareb, received an award.
On October 25, the French Embassy and Abu Dhabi Film Festival co-hosted a dinner at the Emirates Palace in honor of the French presence at the festival. The dinner took place following the showcase of Rachid Bouchareb’s latest film, The Way of the Enemy. More than 400 guests visited the gardens of the Emirates Palace, located near the coast, to enjoy a beautiful evening. The head chef of the luxurious palace prepared a delicious varied buffet of French dishes. During the early evening, DJ Omar and trumpet-player Loic Février, two Parisian artists, proposed a deep house jazz playlist that delighted the crowd. Gennaro, Italian guitarist, and Fedia, Tunisian musician, then played various pieces of Oriental and Western music.
His Excellency the Ambassador of France to the UAE was present and praised the dinner, which reunited part of the French delegation festival with leading players in the Arabian world of cinema.
