The exhibition “Caravane & Guests” opened this week at the French Residency in Abu Dhabi and will present during one month the artworks from 5 French artists: Annabelle Smith-Bigno, Bénédicte Gimonnet, Karine Roche, Mioara Corozel Cherki and Sabine Blanchard. It is in a collaboration’s spirit that the French painters presented in the exhibition “Caravane & Guests” invited two UAE artists to feature their works at their side: Dr. Najat Makki and Faiza Mubarak.

The Caravane collective’s artists draw inspiration in their work, each in their own way, from the diversity and richness of the UAE’s landscapes and inhabitants.  They all share this common thirst of discovering multiculturalism, openness as well as the hospitality of this country. However, each of the painters has at heart to transpose these elements into original works, with nomadism and ephemerality as a common thread.

This exhibition illustrates another example of the fruitful cooperation between France and the UAE.

Following this exceptional collaboration, the Institut français, cultural department of the French Embassy in the UAE takes the opportunity of this inauguration to present the last publication dedicated to the Emirati-French Cultural Dialogue.

The dense and ambitious programme initiated in this context will continue to foster fruitful cultural exchanges between the two countries and to convey messages of tolerance and openness to the world.

This third and last edition will offer a panorama of the upcoming events that will occur until the closing of the program in March 2020, two years after his launch.
