The Institut Français in the United Arab Emirates congratulates Art Dubai for holding, this major event of the UAE art scene which will take place from March 29 to April 3, 2021 at Gate Building – Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC).

The Institut Français also welcomes the willingness of several members of the French artistic scene to travel to the United Arab Emirates to participate in the event. Indeed, the galleries: Templon, Perrotin, Continua, Nathalie Obadia, Mark Hachem will be present.

Templon

The gallery was founded in 1966 by Daniel Templon who was then only 21. It was the first gallery to move closer to the new Pompidou Center, in the heart of Paris, in 1972. Daniel Templon is the co-founder of the magazine ART PRESS and is one of the founders and current board member ADIAF, a 300-collector group in charge of the Duchamp Prize. The gallery has two spaces in Paris and one in Brussels.

Templon has been participating in Art Dubai every year since 2013 and will showcase French-Algerian artist Abdelkader Benchamma (born 1975) who has often exhibited in the UAE. Abdelkader Benchamma will be on site.

Gallery Templon will also showcase:

Omar Ba (Senegal, born in 1977), Kehinde Wiley (Afro-American, born in 1977), Chiharu Shiota (Japonese, born 1972), Jim Dine (American, born in 1935), Anju Dodiya (Indian, born in 1964), Jitish Kallat (Indian, born in 1974), Ivan Navarro (American-Chilean, born in 1972).

Perrotin

Emmanuel Perrotin founded his first gallery in 1990 at the age of twenty-one. Perrotin has galleries in Paris, Hong Kong, New York, Seoul, Tokyo, and Shanghai, totaling approximately 7,500 square meters (80,500 square feet) of exhibition space across its ten locations.

It is the second time Gallery Perrotin takes part to Art Dubai, the gallery will showcase the following French artists:

Johan Creten, Jean Philippe Delhomme, Laurent Grasso, JR, Hans Hartung, Xavier Veilhan, Michel Othoniel.

Gallery Perrotin will also showcase:

Daniel Arsham, , Lee Bae, Thilo Heinzmann, Bharti Kher, Jean Michel Othoniel – Takashi Murakami,

Galleria Continua

Galleria Continua is a leading international contemporary art gallery, which was founded in San Gimignano (Italy) in 1990, by three friends: Mario Cristiani, Lorenzo Fiaschi and Maurizio Rigillo. Occupying a former cinema, Galleria Continua established itself and thrived in an entirely unexpected location, away from the big cities and the ultramodern urban centres, in a town – San Gimignano – steeped in history.

Galleria Continua, has been taking part to Art Dubai selection for ten years, since the year of the fair foundation and will showcase French artist JR, presenting a series of artworks from a performance occurred in Venice last year, inspired by his latest film, “Omelia contadina”.

The gallery will also showcase the following artists: Loris Cecchini, Nikhil Chopra, Carlos Garaicoa, Shilpa Gupta, Anish Kapoor, Ahmed Mater, Moataz Nasr, Ornaghi e Prestinari, José Antonio Suárez Londoño and José Yaque.

Galerie Nathalie Obadia

Since the opening of the first gallery in Paris (France) in 1993, followed by the one in Brussels (Belgium) in 2008, Nathalie Obadia has exhibited emerging and recognized artists of the international contemporary art scene.

Galerie Nathalie Obadia took part to Art Dubai from 2011 to 2016. The Galerie will be back in 2021. For the 14th edition of Art Dubai and will present a set of new or unseen historical works from artists who have recent or upcoming major exhibitions in prestigious institutional venues.

Galerie Nathalie Obadia will showcase French artist Laure Prouvost, who represented France at the 57th Biennale di Venezia, Italy, in 2019.

Galerie Nathalie Obadia will also showcase the following artists:

Brook Andrew (born in 1970 in Sydney, Australia), Rina Banerjee (born in 1963 in Kolkata, India), Nú Barreto ( born in 1966 in Sao Domingos, Guinea Bissau), Seydou Keïta (born in 1921 in Bamako, Mali, died in 2001 in Paris, France), Youssef Nabil (born in 1972 in Cairo, Egypt), Wang Keping, (born in 1949 in Beijing, China

Mark Hachem

En 1996, Mark Hachem ouvre sa première galerie d’art contemporain au cœur du Marais. Il en ouvre une seconde 11 ans plus tard à New York, ainsi qu’une troisième à Beyrouth pour se concentrer sur les artistes du Moyen-Orient tels que Helen Khal, Hussein Madi, Leila Nseir , Ahmad Moualla , Basbous et Hamed Abdalla.

Au cours des deux dernières décennies, la galerie a capturé des artistes prestigieux et s’est instantanément distinguée des autres galeries parisiennes par son intérêt pour l’art cinétique. La galerie a présenté des œuvres cubistes et néo-expressionnistes, ainsi que des œuvres de l’Ecole de Nice, entre autres. Parmi les artistes notables dont les œuvres ont été exposées à la galerie figurent Pablo Picasso, Arman, Cesar, Christo, Polles , Mauro Corda, Fernando Botero, Roberto Matta, Wifredo Lam, Philippe Hiq

La Galerie Mark Hachem a participé à Art Dubai en 2018, 2019 et 2020 dans l’exposition dématérialisée en ligne. Cette année, la Galerie Mark Hachem présentera les œuvres d’art des maîtres modernes Hussein Madi et Dario Perez Flores.
