Institut Français presents French designers at Dubai Design Week

8 au 13 novembre

Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (DCAA), Dubai Design Week is the region’s largest creative festival, reflecting Dubai’s position in as the design capital of the Middle East. Capitalizing on Dubai’s status as the design capital of the Middle East, this annual event features inventive exhibitions of architecture, product, furniture and interior design. Immersive, interesting and inspiring, Dubai Design Week celebrates the variety of regional talent, but also invites international artists to share their art with local communities. The Downtown Design fair is one of the festival’s flagship events, where local and foreign brands showcase limited-edition designs.

For the fourth time, IF-UAE has established a partnership with the Cité internationale du Design in Saint Etienne to organize a French presence during DDW. La Cité is the flagship of French design. The city of St Etienne has made it a major axis of revitalization of the city. Thanks to all of its initiatives, it has obtained the “creative city” label from UNESCO – the only city in France to hold it.

The design center of St Etienne is part of a strong dynamic, following the announcement by the ministers of culture and the economy that grants the city the future National Center of Design. The largest national design gallery will thus be open there. The Cité du Design also wishes to develop the business dimension, as well as programs for young people (with in particular the “La Cabane” project, which will be an educational space for the appropriation of design by the youngest).
