The Institut Français in the United Arab Emirates – cultural department of the French Embassy, JCDecaux -the world’s leading externaladvertising company, Abu Dhabi Airports Company and Print Works are pleased to join forces once again to launch the 2nd edition of the ArtPortChallenge competition!

After the success of the first edition dedicated to the “mobility of the future”, the partners have chosen to “Travel the world through music “for this new edition, by calling upon the photographic talent of the participants. This theme pays tribute to Abu Dhabi, which was nominated “Creative City of Music” by UNESCO in November 2021.  Abu Dhabi is a musically vibrant city, host to major events such as Abu Dhabi Classics, it is the home of prestigious institutions such as the Cultural Foundation, Berklee Abu Dhabi and Bait Al Oud.

The success of the previous season -which mobilized the participation of a large number of candidates -inspired the project partners to renew the experience with a brand new theme : “Travel the world through music”.

For this edition, which will be launched on June 21, 2022 in the United Arab Emirates, the partners have invited professional & amateur artists residing in the United Arab Emirates to represent music through photography. Candidates are encouraged to let their imagination run wild and photograph, for example, a stage, an instrument, a singer or an object embodying music in order to capture the intensity of a musical moment and to honor the cultural dynamism of Abu Dhabi.

The call for applications, which will run from June 21 to August 21, is open to anyone over the age of 6 living in the UAE. The 6 winners will be divided into two categories: over 15 years old and under 15 years old. They will be rewarded on September 15, by having their photographs displayed on 64 outdoor advertising panels around the Abu Dhabi International Airport and on two advertising panels in Saadiyat for several weeks. They will also receive numerous prizes highlighting Emirati and French culture and music.
