The Institut français in the UAE and SIBF have invited acclaimed writers Yasmina Khadra, whose novels have reached several million readers world-wide, including The Swallows of Kabul and What the Day Owes the Night, as well as Isabelle Leymarie, who is considered to be one of the foremost specialists in African-American music, and who is musicologist, writer, pianist, filmmaker, translator and photographer. French participation will also include main publishers’ organisation BIEF (French International Publishing Bureau), which represents more than 280 publishers. BIEF will offer Arab professionals the opportunity to join a fellowship programme dedicated to helping them penetrate the French publishing market.

The United Arab Emirates have established themselves over the years as an essential place for books in the Arab world. A number of events have become essential for professionals from the region and the world, but also for the public. Book fairs are the best place to buy books. The Institut Français in the UAE participates each year in the Sharjah International Book Fair by inviting French authors and publishers.

Do not miss the conferences of authors Yasmina Khadra, Isabelle Leymarie, Saad Bouri during the Book Fair. These meetings will be followed by a signing session, the books will be on sale on site. Also meet the three authors at the Alliances Française in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for conferences and question-and-answer sessions. Below are the timetables:
